See this Synology Router Manager help article if you need additional help setting up a Synology router with Wake-on-LAN. If you get a message about the operation not being supported, then you most likely saw a d during the last step, which means you can"t enable Wake-on-LAN on Ubuntu.Īfter the command runs, rerun the one from Step 3 to make sure that the Wake-on value is g instead of d. Look for the ones with a valid inet addr (IP address). The ifconfig -a command lists the available interfaces. If eth0 isn"t your default network interface, modify the command to reflect that. If there"s a g there, then Wake-on-LAN can be enabled. Sudo ethtool eth0Look for the Supports Wake on value. See if your computer supports Wake-on-LAN:
#WOL TEAMVIEWER 10 HOW TO#
The steps for turning on Wake-on-LAN for Linux are most likely not the same for every Linux OS, but here"s how to do it in Ubuntu: If Wake on Demand only works over one of these two, it"s called Wake for Ethernet network access or Wake for Wi-Fi network access. This option is called Wake for network access only if your Mac supports Wake on Demand over Ethernet and AirPort. Select the Wake for network access check box. In the System Preferences window, select Energy Saver, or from the top menu go to View > Energy Saver. Mac Wake-on-Demand should be enabled by default in version 10.6 or later. This is most likely true for wireless network interface cards (NICs). However, it"s possible that the network card doesn"t support WoL.

If these options don"t appear or are greyed out, update the network adapter"s device drivers. These settings might be under a section called Wake-on-LAN and be a single setting called Wake on Magic Packet. It might be called Power, depending on the version of Windows or network card.Įnable Allow this device to wake the computer and Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer. I had it set to any, but switched it to "exclusive" for testing this.Open the Power Management tab. i am not waking the ASUS PC via it's public address, but via LAN (in case there is an idea about the public address working but no the LAN method). I plan to go the Teamviewer route in search of an answer as well, but thought I'd check here too *Smile

So, I am wondering what method Teamviewer uses (some "Black Magic Packet" ? LOL), and if anyone here might have a clue what the difference is. So, LAN is powered on (and of course not even TViewer would be able to overcome that!) (I did not check that the light in early attempts a few months back). I notice that the LAN light is staying on, so I now suspect a windows networking access failure. I noticed a WOL feature in Teamviewer, so I enabled that and Teamviewer will wake that ASUS rig from another computer when i click the "wake" button in Teamviewer.
#WOL TEAMVIEWER 10 DRIVERS#
So, I blamed the Realtek / ASUS, and myself for not figuring the settings, but I tried changing every BIOS setting on this Asus H270 rig, including using different drivers and nothing would work. (I even had an old XP that i would access the same way hooked in here).

I am not set up as a "Home Group"(it is set as Workplace), but WOL always works on the 3 other computers (2 Win 10 & one old Win7) simply by typing in the network name or using shortcuts I made in my start menu. I was unable to get WOL working (Asus H270-Plus with Realtek RTL8168H LAN).
